The Moon Jelly Story
In December 2014, a close secondary school friend of mine, Alicia and I came together to design, develop and launch the brand Moon Jelly.
Alicia based in Lake Maquarie, NSW and myself (Skye) in Melbourne, VIC.
Moon Jelly is a boutique baby and children’s lifestyle label. Our philosophy was born out of a desire to create Australian designed kids wear and bedding from Certified Organic Cotton that is functional and comfortable.
When we started out we largely developed the Moon Jelly brand remotely, between Melbourne and Lake Macquarie. We collaborated via late night FaceTime sessions and over the phone during children’s nap-times to develop the Moon Jelly concept.
Heading towards the end of 2018, after many challenges, life continued to get busier and more complex and our directions changed.
Over the past few years, the shop has been on a quiet hiatus while I’ve been working full-time managing product development and local manufacturing with ABMT Apparel & Textiles in Melbourne, producing garments using Australian-grown cotton and wool for Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand brands — alongside raising two pretty awesome kids.
During that time, Moon Jelly stock has been carefully stored — and it’s now well past time to clear it out.
Over the summer break, all remaining Moon Jelly pieces have been reduced to clear, with everything priced at cost.
If you’d like to take a look (or share Moon Jelly with friends or family), it would mean a lot. Any revenue raised will go directly toward the possibility of creating new Australian-made Moon Jelly pieces in the future.
